COVID-19 operations update

Hello everyone! We are working to sort out what the closure of non-essential businesses in Ontario means to ecomum and our etsy shop.
We  supply midwifery slings to clients around the world, and do all facets of manufacturing and shipping in our secure home facility. We have enough thread, hardware and beautiful fabric options already in stock to keep working for a while!
We would consider midwifery slings to be an essential medical supply, and just today received orders from midwives who have decided to order extra slings so they can protect their clients while still providing the essential service of birth support and after care.
Scientific reports suggest that the virus will only remain stable or active on fabric or paper surfaces from 24 – 48 hours. Plastics and metal surfaces allow the virus to stay viable longer. We have in the past few weeks transferred all our shipping materials to paper and fabric, apart from packing tape — we will now switch from a plastic tape to a paper source.
We suggest leaving your packages in a secure place for 24 – 48 hours before bringing them into your home (ie, a mailbox) to ensure no contamination from transit comes into your home with your product.

Keep well,

and thanks for your support.

This is what we do to keep sane

One of the things that keeps us sane is our little sewing shed out at the back of our yard.  With a daytime view of backyard chickens, and a jungle of a vegetable, fruit and flower garden, and a nighttime view of the stars, this cozy little space is a sanctuary.

Evenings after a busy and chaotic day, spent in the simplicity of a spot lit sewing space listening to music on cassette tapes, or true crime podcasts, sewing away at midwifery slings or eco-accessories; that’s what helps the troubles and vexations of the  day slip away.

Thank you to all who support our little sanity space.  It’s an honour to be invited into your homes with your trust and support, through the purchase of our hand-made products.

Spring is here….

Spring is the season of kittens, and it seems human babies too!  Midwifery weigh slings are flying out into the world as fast as we can get them sewn up.  It’s such an honour to be so close to the first moments of new little humans arriving into the world.

So, try not to be discouraged by the unruly weather — the snow, the sleet and the chills that jump out from behind trees at us after a tee shirt & shorts day in the yard.  The sun is here; we just need to be patient.

And in the meantime, we’ll just keep calm, and sewn on.

We May be Small, But We’re Slow!

It’s been a busy couple of months here at ecomum — sewing non-stop to keep on track with midwifery weigh sling and custom orders, and doing workshop renovations, so we’re a bit behind in getting our revamped web shop up and running!

Our etsy site is in full swing, so stop by there if you need some eco-home accessories, or midwifery sling beauties!

In the meantime, drop by our progressing ecomum.com shop tab, as we update it with products — many will be at amazing clearance savings, and all will be great for the planet.

Thank you for your visit!  and your patience as we concentrate on the things that keep us going.
