We began making these slings at the request of a local midwives group, and for over a decade have been making them for a Canadian medical supplies company.
This weigh sling is made with care, attention, and affection in our smoke-free home from sturdy 55% hemp / 45% cotton muslin Choose your preference from colour fast solids: steel blue, celery, black, taupe or burgundy, or undyed, unbleached natural muslin (a creamy tone that whitens over time with washing)
Steel blue, navy blue, taupe and natural are now made from an ORGANIC COTTON / HEMP blend for extra eco-responsibility. More organics coming soon!
Slings measure approximately 40″ in length and 29″ width with sturdy metal D rings in an chrome finish for hooking to your scale, sewn in at the ends with double hems. All side hems are nicely rolled & stitched. If you prefer a customized sling WITHOUT D rings (to avoid that familiar clunk in the dryer) please convo us, and we can make you one without metal D-rings that you can attach a caribiner to instead (caribiner not included). If you chose this customization option, we will discount your order 2$.

Hemp is a fabric of choice for many reasons. It is grown organically, the natural properties of the plant making fertilizers and pesticides unnecessary. Hemp grows quickly, allowing farmers a number of harvests during a year to ensure sustainable income. Hemp is durable, softens more and more with each washing, and has anti-bacterial properties! And, Monsanto doesn’t own it yet!
The hemp/cotton blend of these slings ensures a cozy but sturdy hammock for weighing newborn babes.
